Is the size, shape & color consistent?

Yes. Because of the high level of technology in manufacturing & consistency of particle size when quarrying, screening & crushing the raw material, we can claim to have one of the most consistent bricks in size, shape & color on the market.

Do they need extra protection after they’re laid?

No. Geobricks are ‘Lay & forget. They are rain resistant & made with a small amount of a very high tech silicon based water repellant that most other brick manufactures use, such as Boral, Adbri, and Sellkirk etc. This will last the lifetime of the brick.
If extra protection is required, Geobrick offers a choice of two very different types of anti graffiti which will form a hardened ‘skin’ on the outside of the brickwork (see ‘anti graffiti’ under ‘INFO’ on this web site)

Rammed earth, also known as taipa (Portuguese), tapial (Spanish), pisé de terre or simply pisé (French), is a technique used in the building of walls using the raw materials of earth, chalk, lime and gravel. It is an ancient building method that has seen a revival in recent years as people seek more sustainable building materials and natural building methods. Rammed earth walls are simple to construct, incombustible, thermally massive, very strong and durable. Conversely they can be labour-intensive to construct without machinery (powered rammers), and if improperly protected or maintained they are susceptible to water damage. Traditionally, rammed earth buildings are found on every continent (Antarctica excepted), from the temperate and wet regions of northern Europe to semi-dry deserts, mountain areas and the tropics.
